*Smokey Robinson and the Miracles在1962年推出的歌曲。Smokey Robinson是John非常喜欢的歌手，他的早期作品受Robinson影响很大（至少他自己是这么说的）。
*从歌词内容上来看，这首歌体现的比较复杂的感情也是John特别感兴趣的。歌手声称并不喜欢女友，并不希望自己需要她，但是却无法控制自己的感情，女友就像有魔力一样控制着他。
*标题中的Hold当“控制”讲，但后面要求女友“hold me, hold me”的时候又是“抱住我”的意思，这种双关语也是John非常欣赏，而自己也相当善于使用的。
*这是With the Beatles专辑中首先录制的歌曲。因为新歌还没准备好，所以首先录制唱惯了的翻唱作品。这首歌和Please Please Me专辑中翻唱的Arthur Alexander的歌曲Anna一样，无论描述的感情还是歌曲的音乐结构都相当复杂。这两首歌都是John选择的。
*这首歌的节拍很不容易把握，不过甲克虫自从单曲推出后已经练习过很久，所以可以相当顺利地完成录制。
*John的演唱很有激情，特别是后面过渡到假声的那句，还有连着两个“tighter”，把痛苦、怨恨、恼怒与温情和向往混合在一起，不亚于Robinson的原版。
*Smokey Robinson的版本调门略高一些
